Intrinsically Safe Circuitry

A safety architecture that limits voltage and current, protects against faults, and keeps systems operational without introducing ignition energy in explosive atmospheres.

1. The Energy Firewall

At the heart of our system are Eaton MTL shunt-diode safety barriers. These act as a one-way gate for electricity.

  • Voltage & Current Limiting: The barrier ensures that the power sent to the Precision Fuel Probes or Hatch Sensors stays below the Minimum Ignition Energy (MIE) required to ignite petroleum vapors.
  • Fault Protection: If there is a massive power surge from the truck's alternator or battery, the MTL barrier diverts that excess energy to the ground (earth) instantly, preventing it from ever reaching the fuel tank area.

2. The Severed Cable Guarantee

Cables can be frayed by vibration or severed during an accident.

  • No-Spark Physics: In a standard system, a severed live wire hitting the metal chassis would create a high-heat spark. With Intrinsically Safe circuitry, the total stored energy in the cable is so low that even if the wire is cut or short-circuited in a cloud of fuel vapor, it cannot generate enough heat or a spark to cause an explosion.
  • Fail-Safe Design: Our circuitry is designed so that any failure (a cut wire or a broken sensor) results in a Zero Power state, maintaining total safety until the system is repaired.

3. Compliance with Global Oil & Gas Standards

Using Eaton MTL hardware places your fleet in a different category of professional standards.

  • ATEX & IECEx Certified: This circuitry meets the most stringent international requirements for hazardous areas.
  • Blue-Cable Identification: We use industry-standard blue-jacketed cabling for all IS circuits. This allows maintenance crews and safety inspectors at refineries to immediately identify that the vehicle is equipped with a high-level, certified safety system.
